Microsoft hikes dividend by 23.1%

Microsoft (MSFT) will raise its quarterly dividend by 23.1 percent to $0.16 per share in the fourth quarter of 2010. This marks the first dividend hike by the company since 2008.

The new dividend will be paid on December 9, 2010 to shareholders of record on November 18, 2010. Microsoft has now raised its annual dividend for eight consecutive years. The company initiated a quarterly dividend of $0.08 per share in 2003.
