Apple restarts dividend

Apple (AAPL) will start paying a $2.65 quarterly dividend. It's the first dividend payment by the Iphone maker since 1995, when Apple halted its $0.12 per share quarterly dividend.

The $2.65 per share quarterly dividend is 8733.3% more than the last quarterly dividend of $0.12 ($0.00428571 adjusted for splits and corporate actions) that was paid by Apple Computer in 1995.

The new AAPL dividend will be paid on August 16, 2012 to shareholders of record on August 13, 2012. Apple has now raised its dividend for two consecutive years. At the current stock price the annual yield on the dividend is 1.8%.
