Duke Energy hikes dividend by 4.2%

Duke Energy (DUK) will raise its quarterly dividend by 4.2 percent to $0.9275 per share in 2018. This follows a 4.1 percent dividend hike by the utility company last year and marks the 14th consecutive year of dividend increases.

The dividend is payable on September 17, 2018, to shareholders of record at the close of business August 17, 2018. The new dividend yield for DUK is 4.6%.

"For 92 consecutive years, the dividend has played an important role in delivering value to our shareholders," said Lynn Good, chairman, president and CEO. "This increase reflects continued confidence in our ability to produce strong financial results as we execute our long-term strategy."
