John B Sanfilippo & Son (JBSS) will pay another special divdiend in Q1 of 2021. The processor, packager, marketer and distributor of nut and dried fruit based products announced a $2.50 per share special dividend. Last year the company hiked its annual dividend by 8.3 percent to 65 cents per share and also paid two special dividends ($1.00 and $1.85 per share).

The special dividend of $2.50 per share will be paid on March 26, 2021 to stockholders of record as of the close of business on Feb. 16, 2021. The regular annual dividend of 65 cents per share yields 0.8% at a stock price of $82,86.

“We are pleased to announce a Special Dividend of $2.50 per share,” stated Jeffrey T. Sanfilippo, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in the press release dated January 27, 2021, announcing this new special dividend payment. “Our financial performance for the first two quarters of fiscal 2021 has provided us the opportunity to declare a Special Dividend to be paid in the third quarter of fiscal 2021. These dividends, like our previous dividends, further reinforce our goal of creating long-term stockholder value through the responsible use of cash. Furthermore, these dividends would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of all our employees,” Mr. Sanfilippo concluded.
