Weyerhaeuser pays special dividend

Weyerhaeuser (WY) will pay a special dividend of $0.50 per share in 2021. Weyerhaeuser had raised its dividend nine consecutive years before the suspension in 2020. The company reinstated its dividend in Q4 of 2020. The regular quarterly dividend for WY is 17 cents.

In its press release WH mentions that it declares a one-time interim supplemental dividend of $0.50 per share, enabling shareholders to benefit from extraordinary market conditions and allowing the company to capitalize on a one-time tax planning opportunity. WY also says that it is targeting 5 percent annual growth in the sustainable base dividend from 2022-2025 driven by Timberlands and Natural Climate Solutions growth opportunities.

The 50 cent dividend will be paid by WY to shareholders on October 19, 2021. The ex-dividend date for the supplemental payment by Weyerhaeuser is October 4, 2021. The regular dividend yields 1.9% at a stock price of $36.72.

WY owns or controlsl millions of acres of timberlands in the U.S., and manages additional timberlands under long-term licenses in Canada.
