Ford suspends dividend

Ford Motor Company (F) will suspend its quarterly dividend because of the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. In today's press release Ford states that suspending the dividend will preserve cash and provide additional flexibility in the current environment.

In 2015 Ford hiked its dividend for the last time (+20.0 percent). Also a $0.25 per share special cash dividend was paid in the first quarter of 2016. Ford had reinstated a quarterly dividend in 2012.

Ford Motor Company designs, manufactures, markets and services a full line of Ford cars, trucks, SUVs, electrified vehicles and Lincoln luxury vehicles, provides financial services through Ford Motor Credit Company. Ford Motor Company is based in Dearborn, Michigan. Ford was incorporated in Delaware in 1919. Ford acquired the business of a Michigan company, also known as Ford Motor Company, which had been incorporated in 1903 to produce and sell automobiles designed and engineered by Henry Ford. Ford had been paying a dividend (again) since 2012 before the suspension was announced in 2020.
