Ford Motor (F) will pay a special cash dividend of $0.25 per share, equal to $1 billion, in the first quarter of 2016. The special dividend will be paid in addition to Ford's regular quarterly dividend of $0.15 per share.

The $1 billion supplemental cash dividend reflects the company's strong financial performance in 2015 and robust cash and liquidity levels, and is about a 40 percent addition to the regular dividends paid in 2015. The first quarter and supplemental dividends are payable on the company's outstanding Class B and common stock on March 1, 2016 to shareholders of record at the close of business on Jan. 29, 2016.

Ford Motor Company designs, manufactures and markets Ford cars, trucks, sports utility vehicles (SUVs), and electrified vehicles, as well as Lincoln luxury vehicles. The company's Financial Services segment primarily includes its vehicle-related financing and leasing activities at Ford Motor Credit Company LLC. Ford Smart Mobility LLC is a subsidiary formed to design, build, grow, and invest in emerging mobility services.
